1--"RON" VOTES FOR LIFE, NOT DEATH.
Those of you who have read my new book, No More Goodbyes:
Circling the Wagons around Our Gay Loved Ones, will
remember "Ron," who had chosen April 1 as his suicide date
("Moving Toward the Light," page 57). An email he sent me
after seeing Facing East in Utah in November should
move all of us to claim life even more deeply. After telling
how the play profoundly affected his sister and others of
his large "support team," he writes:
"....Your beautiful words, couched in Marcus’ optimistic
effort to get Andy to realize that ‘God loves me and I
am gay’–finally, in some miraculous way, touched my
heart, and I have come to know in recent weeks that I,
too, am loved by God....You literally have saved my soul
from the depths of a hell that I created for myself. Is
that not what Christ asked us to do–to bear one
another’s burdens, to strengthen one another, to love
one another? I love you and I love life and I love my
life...."
A great theme for 2007: love, strengthen, bear one another’s burdens.
2--FACING EAST GIVEN "BEST DRAMA" AWARD.
(Playbook available at
www.nomoregoodbyes.com.
)
After an 11 performance sold-out run in
Salt Lake City of Facing East, the story of a Mormon couple
dealing with the suicide of their gay son, the play was cited by the
Deseret Morning News theatre critic as the "best drama" of the year.
(Well, tied with that little piece "Hamlet" by that upstart Utah
Shakespeare Festival.) This year look for--
¨ Another Salt
Lake City run in April
¨ The
off-Broadway run in May-June
¨ San Francisco
in August.

3-- NO MORE GOODBYES CONTINUES TO INSPIRE.
Just about every day I’m receiving emails
from individuals and families who have been blessed by the new
book, No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons around Our Gay
Loved Ones.
¨ "I
recently received a copy of your book, signed by you, from my
Mom with a note attached. It was the first time I have felt in
my heart that my Mom really meant it when she wrote ‘I love you
very much.’ I have never doubted that my Mom has loved me but I
don't think she ever understood what it was like for me to be
gay, until now."
¨
"I
am pretty much speechless as I reflect on your latest book....I
think of all the times I have almost given up....I have a larger
perspective on life now and feel there is no need to fear the
future. The universe is expanding and becoming more enlightened.
Many thanks to people like you who remain undaunted and hopeful.
The years and generations which follow us will glow with the
growth, freedom and joy of our experiences."

4- MOTHER WOVE THE MORNING DVD NOW
AVAILABLE. Among my most important work is another theatre piece
that explores vital gender issues from another perspective. The
one-woman play that I wrote and performed over 300 times
internationally, Mother Wove the Morning, features
sixteen women throughout history in search of the female face of
God.
¨
"...an amazing experience; a
passionate performance of theater at its best. It
makes us cry, laugh, and remember what we did not
even know we knew. I wish everyone could see it and
be inspired by it." Riane Eisler, author of The
Chalice and the Blade
¨
Available now on DVD with book
(complete text and photos of performance) at
www.nomoregoodbyes.com.
5--LOOK FOR THE MAGIC
IN 2007. Doing last
minute Christmas shopping in Utah, where I
was with my daughter Emily and her kids, I
uncharacteristically bought for myself
the CD of "Carnival," a musical I saw in NYC
many years ago. Back home and unpacking to
the music of that show, I heard Lili’s clear
voice singing, "...Stop living for reason,
time to start living for rhyme...." at the
exact moment that I was lifting out
of my suitcase-- my rhyming dictionary!
I stared at the little book, laughed, and
committed right there to accept this
"message from the Universe" and let "living
for rhyme" be one of my themes for the new
year. Many of you know I track my daily
"synchronicities," recording these
meaningful coincidences in the diary I’ve
kept since high school. Those of you who
don’t know my book Consider the Butterfly
may want to look it up; such fascinating
stuff (more at
www.clpearson.com.)
¨
Leonardo deVinci
attributed his genius to the fact that he
looked for the hidden meaning behind all
things.
¨ How about
watching this year for these personal, magical nudges in your own
life and see what wisdom the Universe is sending to you? Let
me know when you get a good one.
May your best hopes for the New Year be realized. And remember as we venture into 2007-- "Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending." –Maria Robinson Together you and I can help end prejudice and division and promote healing. As one mirror said to the other—"It’s all done with people!" Thanks for walking with me! Love, Carol Lynn Please share this newsletter—to subscribe go to www.nomoregoodbyes.com
