Carol Lynn Pearson Releases
“No More
Goodbyes”
LDS Author Urges Families to “Circle the
Wagons around Our Gay Loved Ones”
by Hugo Salinas
November 2006
Author, poet, and playwright Carol Lynn Pearson has just
released No More Goodbyes: Circling the Wagons around Our Gay
Loved Ones, a remarkable new book encouraging LDS families
to understand, love, and communicate with their gay family
members. After discussing the wrenching realities of family
rejection, divorce, and suicide in the lives of many gay
Mormons, the author focuses on inspiring stories of families and
individuals who are loving, supporting, and standing by their
gay loved ones.
Pearson is also raising awareness on the crisis of
gay Mormon
suicides through her play
Facing
East, which will be staged in Salt Lake City, November
16-26.
“If Good Bye I Love You was a wake up call to understand
homosexuality, No More Goodbyes is a clarion call to
action,” writes Bishop Robert A. Rees in the foreword. “Its
central message is clear: we can't allow what is happening to
homosexuals in our church or in other churches to continue. We
can't accept one more disowned child, one more failed
homosexual-heterosexual marriage, one more suicide…. We can't
accept one more Goodbye.”
Carol Lynn Pearson will be reading from No More Goodbyes
at Sam Weller's (254 South Main St., SLC) on November 17,
6:00-7:30 PM; and at Borders (132 East Winchester, just south of
Fashion Place Mall, SLC) on November 18, Noon-1:30 PM.
